On offer here i have a vintage hardy 12ft split cane fly/salmon fishing rod, in totally original condition and complete with spare tip section, all sections the correct length, original ferrule protectors and rod bag( some holes in bottom) has the serial number B21190 dating the rod to 1919, reg design number 246936, butt guide and tip guides. I have three vintage/antique fly fishing rods: a Hardy's Palakona 'The gold class rod' Serial number E33105 - in its original bag and in good condition a split cane rod 'The Peerless' made by the Allcock company (Reditch Eng.) also in its original bag and a wooden fly fishing rod - still in its original condition - Unfortunatley no markings/labels These were inherited from my grand father so i. Better split bamboo rods always have the maker's name inscribed somewhere on the rod. Payne and Leonard rods have their name engraved on the reel seat metal work. Orvis, Heddon, and Hardy have an inked inscription on the bamboo in front of the cork grip. Some makers (Orvis or Hardy) also have a serial number.
